The FIDI Conference

One of the FIDI Conference’s main purposes is to help you stay up-to-date with industry trends and participate in current conversations. This year’s main theme is leadership, in its broadest sense. The business sessions and panel discussions will tackle the different faces of leadership: how to lead change in difficult times; how to use diversity as a powerful leadership advantage; which skills you need to be an effective leader today and tomorrow. These sessions are open to all Conference attendees – we strongly advise you to take this opportunity to widen your horizons and be part of the conversation shaping our industry!

Keynote speaker: “The Heart Led Leader” by Tommy Spaulding
Date: Monday, 27 April 2020 at 11h00
Free of charge

One of the most important decisions a leader will make throughout their careers is to define what is their leadership philosophy. Leaders and organizations that lead with a servant’s heart are more successful and achieve higher bottom line results than those that don’t. Heart-Led Leadership is the only leadership philosophy that shows that love and results are not opposites, they are two sides of the same coin. If you love what you do, love the people you do it with, love your culture, love your mission, love your team, love your customers, then you will achieve better results together. Based on New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Amazon best-selling book The Heart-Led Leader, Tommy will share with FIDI members just how becoming a heart-led leader will change your life, your organization, and ensure our association will be at the forefront of this industry for years to come.

Panel Discussion: “Leading Change: how to prepare your team and business for change”

There is no better place to talk about the speed of innovation and change than Osaka, home of the world’s first bullet train. As we stare down the tracks at the years to come, organizations must prepare for employing and relocating a new workforce that possesses different priorities and motivations than those of previous generations. Innovation and rapidly changing technology has and will continue to play a critical role in the future of our industry.

Our panel of industry experts and thought leaders led by Joleen Lauffer, Executive Vice-President of AiRES, will share their experience and advice on how the leaders of today can navigate the changes and challenges ahead. Our panel will dissect the reasons that we resist change as well as the role of today’s leaders in change management, leadership development, managing innovation risk and becoming the inspirational leaders that ignite a spark in others.

Panel Discussion: “How to navigate diversity and parity in a global industry”

A number of recent events have brought the diversity and gender parity issues to the forefront of media and politics. The shockwaves don’t seem to have reached the global mobility and international moving industry – but that might be changing.

Our panel of industry experts will lead a heated debate on fundamental questions, such as: how has our industry evolved with the times? Has greater inclusion improved the business? What barriers do women still face in our industry and how can these be broken down without creating a revolution? How do you promote diversity in a global and culturally diverse environment? And the crucial question: is it worth it?
