2019 FIDI CONFERENCE AMSTERDAM

FIDI CYCLE CHALLENGE

Sponsored By

2019 will mark the final year of FIDI’s support to Operation Smile Honduras and the FIDI Conference in Amsterdam. With cycling being the main mode of transport in this bustling cultural city, it is only fitting to announce our very first FIDI Cycling Challenge. What better way to come to the 2019 FIDI Conference in Amsterdam than on a bike saddle with your fellow conference attendees and friends, all in the name of charity? With your support and fundraising efforts, we are sure to reach our target of raising 150,000.00 US$ for Operation Smile Honduras.

The FIDI Cycle Challenge will take you from London to Amsterdam in two days. The 141-mile (226km) cycle tour will depart from the center of London and finish at the NH Grand Krasnapolsky Hotel in Amsterdam, the host of the 2019 FIDI Conference – just in time for the opening of the Conference on Sunday, 31st March 2019. Between these two bustling capitals, two days of cycling await following an exciting route through some of the most beautiful countryside and coastal areas both countries have to offer.

The London to Amsterdam FIDI Cycle Challenge is expertly managed by the Challenge Central team all along the way. A support vehicle will carry your personal belongings and will meet you at every checkpoint, in case you need to access anything. You will also have the option for your bikes to be transported back to the UK following the challenge – allowing you to explore Amsterdam in all of its glory and attend the FIDI Conference! Please note the price of the challenge includes the overnight ferry to Holland but does not include accommodation in Amsterdam or your return to the UK.

For more information, check out the official FIDI Cycle Challenge website, where you can also complete your sign up to participate in the challenge.

A huge thank you to our FIDI Cycle Challenge sponsors, Reason Global, with their unwavering support this is proving to be a truly energized and rewarding challenge.

Operation Smile was chosen in 2015 as the project that can make a real tangible difference to the lives of vulnerable, poverty stricken children. Operation Smile Honduras provides surgical intervention for children born with cleft lip and palate disorders. These conditions are particularly prevalent in impoverished communities in Honduras where access to medical care is limited.Operation Smile Honduras performs transformational surgery on children affected by these conditions, allowing them the chance of a normal childhood. The multidisciplinary team at Operation Smile Honduras includes speech therapists, feeding specialists, nutritionists, pediatricians, social workers, plastic surgeons, dentists, psychologists and volunteers, who give food and assistance to traveling families who arrive at the clinic from all over Honduras.

FIDI donations go directly to operative missions where many children are operated on over a one week period. In December 2016, the first FIDI OSH Mission took place and 89 children received surgery. This mission was exclusively funded by FIDI donations and is the first of three planned FIDI OSH medical missions. So far FIDI has raised over $67,000 and has many activities planned  to keep the funds coming in to help as many children as possible. 2019 will be the last year FIDI supports Operation Smile Honduras, ending at the Conference in Amsterdam. With a remaining amount of approximately $33,000 still to be collected to reach our target, we enter the last push, concluding with our Cycle Challenge, directly focused on raising funds for OSH. If you cannot participate, the please do sponsor our cyclists on their challenge.

Meet the team – FIDI is proud to introduce to you the 15 brave men and women who have signed up to embrace this – what we hope will be – amazing challenge for them all. We are so honored that they have chosen to do this, to help us reach out target, in the final few weeks of raising money Operation Smile Honduras. Why not, help them with some encouragement and donate to support their efforts.
